Birmingham 2022 – Road Event Courses Announced
The latest and final venues for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games have been confirmed today, with Victoria Square in Birmingham city centre revealed as the official finish area for the Marathon.
As well as unveiling the full 42.2km/26.2 mile route for the Marathon, the organisers of the Games also unveiled the courses for the Cycling Road Race, Cycling Time Trial and Triathlon and Para Triathlon events.
• The Triathlon and Para Triathlon events will be staged in and around Sutton Park on 29 and 31 July.
• The Marathon will be held in Birmingham and will be staged on Saturday 30 July.
• The Cycling Time Trial will take place in the Black Country and Staffordshire on Thursday 4 August. It will start and finish in Wolverhampton’s West Park.
• The Cycling Road Race will be held on Sunday 7 August and will start and finish at St Nicholas Park.

Giant Tentacles in Birmingham
The giant tentacles have been installed this week to celebrate Halloween.
Bewildered shoppers have been reacting to a huge octopus installation which has appeared on top of the Bullring.
The bizarre creature (or creatures) can be seen clearly when walking down St Martin’s Walk in the city centre.
Bright blue, green and red octopus tentacles appear to dangle over the shopping centre’s rooftop.
The creative work, near to Five Guys and Next, has been installed by the Bullring to celebrate Halloween.
Bullring bosses said it will remain in place all week to coincide with its ‘scary’ and immersive experience ‘Séance’. 👇

Council Plan City Centre Transport Shake-up
A massive overhaul of transport in Birmingham city centre is planned to meet the challenges of the next decade.
The Birmingham Transport Plan 2031, based on a 2020 consultation, is scheduled to be discussed at Birmingham City Council’s Cabinet meeting next Tuesday. It includes limited access for private cars with no through trips allowed.
